Active Kids Club

Welcome to the Active Kids Club Program!

Children in grades Kindergarten to 12 years old are provided with safe supervision and recreation programming from trained City of Maple Ridge Recreation Leaders. The program is provided within the listed elementary schools from dismissal until 6:00PM. Program opportunities are safe, fun, active and inclusive and adhere to Provincial Childcare Licensing Regulations, governed by Fraser Health Authority. In addition to Childcare Licensing guidelines, The AKC program follows all Provincial & Municipal Guidelines, WorkSafe BC requirements and align with School District No. 42 policies.

The AKC program strives to support children with their development through play, active movement, imagination, social interaction, and a sense of curiosity in the world around them.

Program Information

• Times | 2:20 pm(school dismissal)–6:00 pm
• Locations | Albion, Kanaka, Laity View and Yennadon Elementary schools                
• Program Cost | AKC was approved for the optional Fee Reduction Initiative Program, from the Provincial Child Care Operating Funding program for AKC families. Fees without the reduction are $22.35. Below are the fees with the additional funded reduction.
  • Kindergarten: $14.35 per child per day
  • Grade 1 to 12 years: $19.47 per child per day

2025-2026 AKC Program Registration:

Registration opens Tuesday, May 13th, 2025 at 6:00AM.

Registration is first-come, first-served per emailed submission timestamp as space is limited.

Please note we do not accept early applications.

Step 1 | Schedule Request & Payment Information

1. Complete an AKC Schedule Request Form for each individual child using documents form linked below.
2. Upload Visa or Mastercard information on City of Maple Ridge Xplor Recreation account (please see p.3 of AKC Handbook linked at bottom of page for instructions).
3. Submit completed Schedule Request Form to akc@mapleridge.ca (one email per family with all Schedule Request Forms included) once registration has opened on May 13^th. 

All steps must be completed in Step 1 for us to accept your schedule request form.

Step 2 | Registration Waiver

Once we have received your Schedule Request Form and confirmed that all steps have been completed, the AKC team will send you an email with information to complete Step 2, the Active Kids Club Waiver. Once the waiver has been filled out with all required information and submitted, it will be reviewed by the AKC team.

Step 3 | Confirmation

Once the AKC team has reviewed the waiver and ensured all information required has been submitted, you will receive an email notification in June 2025 with the confirmed or waitlisted dates requested per child. An email with location-specific AKC information will be sent to families who have confirmed registration in the AKC program.
