Hammond has a number of unique qualities combining to make it a neighbourhood with heritage character. Some prominent features include several early 1900's single-family houses, a historic commercial area, a 5.4 hectare baseball park, and a 16 hectare golf course. Local employment opportunities exist within the Maple Meadows Business Park, and nearby commercial areas.
Hammond Area Plan Update (September 2025)
Staff are in the process of amending the OCP to update the Hammond Area Plan. At the September 9, 2025, Committee of the Whole, staff presented the Hammond Area Plan Update for Council consideration of First Reading, with Council then giving First Reading at the September 16, 2025 Regular Council meeting. The proposed changes aim to reflect recent provincial housing legislation while consolidating and updating land uses and policies. Updates include enabling mixed-use, higher-density buildings near transit to support new legislation. For more information, please see the September 9, 2025 Committee of the Whole meeting agenda package and video.
The Hammond Area Plan was given final reading and adopted at the regular Council meeting of January 24, 2017.
To read the full plan, see Hammond Area Plan Section 10.5 of the Official Community Plan.
