Ichigo Ichie - The Fruit That Bears Secrets | Runs the Duration of Culture Days | The ACT Arts Centre (The ACT Art Gallery) 11944 Haney Place | Ichigo Ichie – The Fruit that Bears Secrets is a solo exhibition by multi-disciplinary artist Cindy Mochizuki. Through mediums of digital animation and immersive installation, this exhibition explore the history of Japanese Canadian berry farmers who settled and worked in the Fraser Valley prior to World War II. The foundation of Mochizuki’s art practice is memory work with Nikkei (Japanese immigrants and their descendants), by visiting and collecting their stories about the past, many of whom were children at the time. |
Tiny Art Show | Pick up: Sept 17-Oct 1, Display Oct 3-11 | Maple Ridge Library | Unleash your inner artist and be part of our Culture Days Tiny Art Show! Pick up a canvas at the library, create your masterpiece and drop off by October 1 to be part of the show. Canvases will be on display in the library foyer from October 3 - 11. Canvases available while supplies last. |
Truth Wrapping for Truth & Reconciliation | September 19 3:00PM | Memorial Peace Park 11930 224 Street | Help raise awareness by wrapping trees in orange at Memorial Peace Park. The orange fabric symbolizes Every Child Matters and honours the survivors and children lost to residential schools. These wrapped trees serve as a visual reminder of healing, growth, and the ongoing journey of reconciliation. |
GETI Fest 2025 | September 20 10:00AM-2:00PM | Memorial Peace Park 11930 224 Street | Organized by the Golden Ears Transition Initiative Society, GETI Fest focuses on “Local Voices Building Community Resilience” with exhibitors, vendors, live music, crafts, food, and activities highlighting themes of food security, local economy, environment, and social collaboration. |
Apple Harvest Festival | September 21 11:00am - 2:00pm | Haney House 11612 224 Street | The annual Apple Harvest Festival at Haney House is back. The event will feature tours, lawn games, apple samples from Haney House’s orchard, apple cider, and apple-themed prizes. |
Improv Theatre Workshop | September 22 7:00PM-8:30PM | Albion Community Centre | As part of Culture Days, enjoy a free, adults (19+) all-levels workshop led by instructors Graham Myers and Russ Brummer. Learn stage skills, short-form games, character work, and long-form techniques in an engaging, hands-on session. |
Alternative Artmaking | September 23 4:00PM-5:00PM | Maple Ridge Library | As part of Culture Days, Maple Ridge Artist in Residence and artist behind Drawing Thanks, Alex Neff (they/ them), invites you to join them for a purpose-driven hour exploring how emerging artists of every ability and skill level can engage with alternative economies in art making. Over the course of an hour, teens and adults will have the opportunity to discuss what interests them, how they can connect to it creatively, and get hands-on with some visual journaling. |
National Tree Day | September 24 2:00PM-5:00PM | Alouette Park | National Tree Day in Maple Ridge is celebrated annually with a community tree planting event that brings together residents and local organizations to honour the beauty and benefits of trees. It's a day for reflection, environmental stewardship, and strengthening community connections through nature. |
Metis Beadlike Painting | September 27 10:00AM-11:30AM | Albion Community Centre | Join Jocelyn McIntosh at the Albion Community Centre for a creative and cultural experience exploring Metis bead-like painting. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn how to use paint to mimic intricate patterns of traditional Metis beadwork - often referred to as Metis Dot Art. Together, we'll explore the rich history and symbolism behind these vibrant floral designs, which are a proud expression of Metis identity. We'll also take time to discuss Australian Aboriginal dot art, drawing connections between global Indigenous art forms and their deep cultural roots. |
National Day for Truth & Reconciliation | September 28 9:30AM-3:00PM | Memorial Peace Park 11930 224 Street | Throughout the day, Indigenous drum groups and dancers will share their cultural artistry, special guest speakers will share stories, and our special guest performer and speaker - local Indigenous HipHop artist K.A.S.P. will be joining us on the Performance Stage. Joining them will be more than 60 local artisans, vendors and community organizations. Free activities will include orange shirt painting, the creation of a community art project, drum circles, resource and knowledge sharing and a healing tent and safe space for those impacted by the residential school system to come together to share and witness through stories. |

Artists in the Library | October 4 11:00AM-3:00PM | Maple Ridge Library | Join the library and our vibrant artistic community in celebrating Culture Days 2025! Enjoy live demonstrations by local artists, including City of Maple Ridge Artist in Residence Alex Neff, Whonnock Weavers & Spinners, and Garibaldi Arts Club, as they showcase their skills and share insights about their work. All ages welcome. |
