Small Business Week is a national celebration of Canadian entrepreneurs and their contributions to our economy. From October 19 to 25, 2026, the City and local partners will be offering information and events to celebrate and recognize the small businesses that call Maple Ridge home.
The City of Maple Ridge, along with the Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association and the Ridge Meadows Chamber of Commerce, is offering a week of programming to support our local entrepreneurs and the small businesses they run. Local Small Business Week Events
Join us on Monday, October 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at The Patch Brewery for Maple Ridge Innovates! as we reveal the winners of the 2026 Maple Ridge Innovation Challenge.
Nearly 40 nominations and applications were narrowed down to eight finalists in two categories. Be there in person as we reveal the winning businesses who will take home a share of more than $17,000 in cash and in-kind prizes.
Tickets to the event include a beverage of your choice and light bites from The Patch.
Maple Ridge is a heavily forested community, with about 60% of the city covered by forest. Many homes, businesses, and public facilities are located where developed areas meet forested land: the wildland-urban interface.
Wildfires can be caused by lightning or human activity. While wildfire risk varies across the community, the potential impact on homes, businesses, neighbourhoods, infrastructure, and natural areas can be significant, and the risks posed by wildfires can extend deep into the urban area, if weather conditions allow.
FireSmart gives residents and business owners practical ways to reduce wildfire risk around their homes, businesses, properties, and neighbourhoods. The program's tips and techniques can also help reduce the risks from fires in the urban areas too.

Hear from Emily Kozlik, FireSmart Coordinator at the City of Maple Ridge, who will share tips on how your business can reduce the risks and prepare for fire - wild or otherwise.
