    How will you celebrate?

    Every June, communities across Canada celebrate June is Recreation and Parks month to promote the importance of recreation and parks in enhancing the well-being and quality of life for individuals and communities. Throughout the month of June we will offer ways to move, explore and enjoy Maple Ridge’s recreation and parks programs, outdoor parks, green spaces, and places.

    TRAVEL BY BIKE 

    Kick off the month with Spring Go by Bike Week from May 31st – June 7th. Check out the variety of events hosted by HUB cycling. Go by Bike Week

    LET’S MOVE 

    Canadians will join forces to complete a single, large goal over 20 days from June 1st – June 21st. You choose how you will move, indoors, or outdoors. You just have to download the free Strava app and join the challenge. #LetsMoveCanada

    TAKE A HIKE 

    International Trails Day is the first Saturday in June. Go on a hike or walk with a friend or family on one of the beautiful local trails in Maple Ridge. Organize or participate in a trail/park clean up. Check out the variety of events through Outdoor Recreation Council of BC. BC Trails Day

    PLAY 

    Find some ways to incorporate play into your day on June 11th, the International Day of Play. Try new play ideas with your children or head outside to play in the great outdoors. June 11th is International Day of Play. For more ideas check out International Day of Play.

    EXPLORE A NEW PARK 

    Get into the great outdoors with Maple Ridge’s local parks. Our parks are a great place to go for a jog, exercise or simply enjoy nature. Be sure to check out our newest playground at Maple Ridge Park. Parks & Trails

    GO FOR A SWIM

     Grab your friends and/or family and cool off at Hammond Outdoor Pool on the weekends in June. All length swimming and public swim drop-in times are free for Maple Ridge residents.

    PLAY SPORTS OUTDOORS 

    Check out one of the many sport courts or fields around Maple Ridge. Take your pick of basketball, volleyball, pickleball, soccer and more. Did you know you we have outdoor nets available for free that you can sign out at Albion Community Centre to go play Pickleball at one of our outdoor pickleball courts at c̓əsqənelə Elementary School or Tsuyuki Park in East Maple Ridge.

    Explore the parks in Maple Ridge and check out the temporary display of Public Art frames. These frames, unveiled last fall, were created by emerging young artists to celebrate Maple Ridge's 150th anniversary.
