Municipal Elections

Local government elections in B.C. are held every four years on the third Saturday in October. Our next general local election will be held on October 17, 2026.

Municipal elections are the most direct way for the public to influence their local government, school district or other local governance body by determining the individuals who then make decisions and govern on their behalf following general voting day.

In Maple Ridge, the following positions are elected:

Voting Process

Maple Ridge holds elections in accordance with the Local Government Act, the Community Charter and the School Act. City procedures for conduct during elections is outlined in Bylaw No. 7072-2014 and the framework for political activities at the City is set out in Policy 3.18.
