Local government elections in B.C. are held every four years on the third Saturday in October. Our next general local election will be held on October 17, 2026.
Assent Vote (Referendum): Recreation Project Funding

Maple Ridge is moving forward with plans for three major recreation projects to meet the needs of our growing community. An assent vote (referendum) on borrowing funds for the projects will be held as part of the October 17 local government election.

Municipal elections are the most direct way for the public to influence their local government, school district or other local governance body by determining the individuals who then make decisions and govern on their behalf following general voting day.
In Maple Ridge, the following positions are elected:
- One Mayor
- Six Councillors
- Five School Trustees (for School District No. 42)
Voting Process
Maple Ridge holds elections in accordance with the Local Government Act and the School Act. City procedures for conduct during elections are outlined in Bylaw No. 7072-2014 and the framework for political activities at the City is set out in Policy 3.18.

Work as An Election Official
The City is hiring Election Officials and Supervisors to support the municipal election operations in October. Period of work includes advance voting dates beginning on October 7, through the general election on October 17.
