Causes of Water Leaks
Applying for a Leak Adjustment on your Bill
Under Maple Ridge water service bylaw 6002-2001 Part 11 - Where evidence of a leak is discovered in a private metered waterworks system, reported and repaired by the consumer within 30 days following discovery, the City will adjust the amount billed for water consumption for a maximum of the previous two quarterly bills plus the current quarter. The adjustment will be a credit of 50% of the cost of consumption attributed to the leak, based on normal consumption preceding the leak.
If you fixed a leak on your property that caused an increase on your utility bill, you can apply for a leak adjustment.
What to do:
- Identify and repair the leak on your property
- Read your meter to make sure your consumption is back to normal
- Fill out the Leak Adjustment Request Form
- Submit the completed form and required repair receipts to waterbill@mapleridge.ca
- You can also mail in the form or drop it off in person at City Hall.
- Incomplete leak adjustment forms and/or missing receipts/invoices will result in a delay in processing the leak adjustment request.
Note: The City of Maple Ridge is not responsible for detecting or fixing water leaks on private property.
