Fire Prevention Week 2025: October 5 to 11

Charge Into Fire Safety!
Fire Prevention Week: October 5–11
Fire Prevention Week is here! This year’s theme, Charge Into Fire Safety, is all about keeping your home safe from lithium-ion battery fires.
Lithium-Ion Batteries: Power with Caution
From phones and laptops to e-bikes and power tools, lithium-ion batteries keep our lives moving. But if they’re not used or charged properly, they can spark dangerous fires.
Stay safe with these 3 smart moves:
- Buy smart → Look for a recognized safety mark before you buy. If it’s not listed, skip it.
- Charge smart → Always use the correct charger, replace damaged cords, and unplug once fully charged.
- Recycle smart → Never throw batteries in the trash. Take them to an approved drop-off location.
Did You Know?
Anything with a lithium-ion battery can become a fire hazard if it’s not charged properly. Protect your home and family by following these quick tips:
✔️ Use only the manufacturer’s charger
✔️ Replace damaged or bent cords immediately
✔️ Charge on hard, flat surfaces—never on beds, couches, or soft furniture
✔️ Unplug at 100%
Charging safely = preventing fires.
