Here’s everything you need to know to vote on October 17, in the General Local Election in Maple Ridge, including where to vote, how to vote, what you need to vote, and what to expect at the voting locations.
Maple Ridge’s next Local General Election will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
Eligible voters will elect:
- one Mayor
- six Councillors
- five School Trustees (for School District No. 42)
The elected officials will serve a four-year term from November 2026 to October 2030.

Vote by Mail
You can choose to vote by mail ballot instead of voting in person. Ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer by 8:00 pm on Election Day October 17, 2026.
To request a mail ballot, you will need to submit an application to vote by mail (applications available starting September 17 2026, Mail Ballots available starting October 7). The application and additional information will be available on the City’s election webpage and for pick-up at City Hall closer to the election.

Voter Information & Eligibility
To be eligible to vote in the election you must be either a Resident Elector or a Non-Resident Property Elector.
Resident Electors are:
- 18 years of age or more on general voting day (October 17, 2026)
- A Canadian citizen
- Have lived in British Columbia for at least six months before you register to vote
- Are a resident of Maple Ridge
- Have not been disqualified from voting by any statute or law
You may vote as a Non-Resident Property Elector if you:
- Are not a resident of Maple Ridge
- Are 18 years of age or more on general voting day (October 17, 2026)
- Are a Canadian Citizen
- Have lived in British Columbia for at least six months before you register to vote
- Are a registered owner of real property in Maple Ridge for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registering (either as joint tenants or tenants in common, and not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust)
- Have not been disqualified from voting by any statute or law
If more than one person owns the property, only one owner may register and that person must have the written consent of a majority of the other owners. Note the property must be in the name(s) of individuals and not in the name of a company. A person may only register in relation to one property in Maple Ridge.

What You Need to Vote
Register in advance to save time.
Voters List: The City of Maple Ridge will use the Province of British Columbia's Voters List as its list of electors. To register to vote or to check your current voter registration status please visit Elections BC.
Bring two pieces of ID to register at a voting location.
As per provincial legislation, if you are registered in advance, you will not be required to present documentation at the voting location. A declaration is required to receive a ballot.
New or unregistered voters, or anyone needing to update their personal information, will need two (2) pieces of valid documentation to prove who you are and where you live. One of these must include your signature.
Only the following documents will be accepted for identification:
- British Columbia Driver's Licence
- British Columbia Identification Card
- BC Services Card, photo or non-photo
- a document, issued by the government of Canada, that certifies that the applicant is registered as an Indian under the Indian Act
- a citizenship or membership card issued by a first nation
- a citizenship card issued by Métis Nation British Columbia
- Owner's Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Licence issued by ICBC
- British Columbia CareCard or Gold CareCard (if separate from Driver's Licence)
- Ministry of Social Development and Economic Security Request for Continued Assistance form SDES8
- Social Insurance Number Card issued by Government of Canada
- Citizenship Card issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada
- Real property tax notice
- Credit card or debit card
- Utility bill (electricity, natural gas, water, telephone services or cable)
- Shelter Letter (form CMR-AP26)
Accessibility at Voting Locations
Translation
You may bring a translator to help you at the voting location if you need assistance. The translator will be required to complete a declaration in order to provide assistance.
Assistance
If you require help marking your ballot - An election official or a person accompanying you may help you mark your ballot if you require assistance inside a voting location due to a disability or challenges with reading or writing. If you bring someone to assist you, they will be required to complete a declaration in order to provide assistance.
If you aren't physically able to enter a voting location - A ballot can be brought out to you for curbside voting if you have difficulty entering a voting location due to a physical disability or impaired mobility. When you arrive at the voting location, you can call the Election Office at 604-467-7423 or someone accompanying you can notify the Presiding Election Official about the request for curbside voting.
