Silver Valley's forested hillsides provide gateways to popular recreation areas, such as Golden Ears Provincial Park, and the creeks and rivers are some of the richest salmon habitat in the Lower Mainland. With this context in mind, it is the desire of the community to ensure that as growth occurs in Silver Valley, the elements that afford it a unique place in Maple Ridge will be preserved, protected and celebrated.
Silver Valley Area Plan Update (September 2025)
Staff are in the process of amending the OCP to update the Silver Valley Area Plan. At the September 9, 2025, Committee of the Whole, staff presented the Silver Valley Area Plan Update for Council consideration of First Reading, with Council then giving First Reading at the September 16, 2025 Regular Council meeting. The proposed changes aim to reflect recent provincial housing legislation while consolidating and updating land uses and policies.
