Save Energy & Money

Buildings are major energy users and a significant source of greenhouse gas emissions. In Maple Ridge, 34% of carbon emissions come from existing homes, commercial buildings, and institutional buildings.

One of the best ways to reduce energy use and emissions is through energy efficiency upgrades and fuel switching. Improving or purchasing an energy-efficient home or building can also lower utility costs for households, stratas, and workplaces. These spaces are often healthier and more comfortable, with fewer drafts, cleaner air, and more consistent indoor temperatures.

Rebates and incentives from BC Hydro, FortisBC, and the Province of B.C. can help offset the cost of upgrades such as renovations, EV chargers, solar panels, and energy-efficient equipment.

If you are retrofitting or building, be sure to check permit and inspection requirements, work with qualified contractors familiar with energy-efficient systems, and confirm any relevant coverage, incentives, or rebate options with your insurer and mortgage provider.
