Flooding due to damaged water infrastructure should be reported to the City at 604-463-9581. Examples of water infrastructure are:
Water mains
Fire hydrants
Culverts
Catch basins
Flooding due to damaged pipes on private property is the responsibility of the property owner. There is no need to report these incidents.
Sewer backups due to a blockage in the sanitary main (in the inspection chamber or outside the property line) should be reported to the City at 604-463-9581. Sanitary inspection chambers that require repairs should also be reported to the City.
Sewer backups due to plugged toilets or sinks are the responsibility of the property owner. There is no need to report these incidents.
Most catch basins become blocked by leaves or other debris in the road. Once the debris is cleared, accumulated water will generally drain away. Most debris can be cleared by hand or with a rake.
Plugged catch basins that can't be easily cleared should be reported to the City at 604-463-9581.
Utility connections are where the pipe from your house or property connects to the City water main, sanitary sewer main, or drainage main. City mains are generally located in the road or boulevard.
