Water Meter Installations

The City of Maple Ridge mandates the installation of water meters for:

  • All multi-family & non-residential properties.
  • All residential properties with existing meters, plus all newly constructed residential developments.
  • All properties with inground pools or sprinkler systems.
  • All properties greater than 0.4 hectare in area (1 acre parcels).
  • All single-family residential properties where the service connection has been replaced.
  • Anyone who is in breach of the Water Servicing Bylaw, Conditions of Service.
  • Anyone who applies for the voluntary metering program.

Water Meter Readings

Water meters in the City of Maple Ridge are routinely read each quarter for billing purposes. The Water Servicing Bylaw requires a clear and unobstructed access to the water meter at all times.

At times, you may receive a letter, door hanger or note on your utility bill outlining a concern flagged by your water utility.  Common problems or correspondence are:

  • Meter box and meter is inaccessible due to landscape, construction, parked car.
  • Recorded continuous water flow to the property.

City of Maple Ridge has a quality assurance program to ensure the metering bills are accurate.  If there are any meter reading concerns, please contact Revenue Services at waterbill@mapleridge.ca or by phone 604-467-7336.  Staff will coordinate to address your concerns.
