Who is ESS?

Hello, My Name Is…

Emergency Support Services (ESS), is a program of the provincial government, delivered at the local level in more than 150 municipalities across British Columbia. Some communities deliver these services with municipal staff, but most are supported by the roughly 5000 volunteers across the province who donate their time and energy to be ready to assist others in an emergency.

Volunteers are the backbone of ESS in Maple Ridge. Volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, ages and abilities, but they all share the common goal to give back to the community by helping others.

As of September 2022, the City of Maple Ridge ESS volunteers have been managed through the Canadian Red Cross.
