The Heritage Grant Program is currently a pilot program intended to help conserve our community’s heritage by providing financial support for eligible heritage projects led by residents, organizations, and members of local First Nations.
The Heritage Grant Program recognizes heritage conservation projects in the city of Maple Ridge, Katzie First Nation, and Kwantlen First Nation.
Applications for the pilot year of this program will be accepted until February 28, 2025.
For complete details regarding the program, funding streams, eligibility, and the review process please refer to the Heritage Grant Program Guide.
Funding Streams
Two different funding streams are available based on the type of heritage project - the Built Heritage funding stream and the Cultural Heritage funding stream.
Available Funding
A total of $20,000 in funding is available to the community as part of the Heritage Grant Program. Heritage grants may fund a maximum of 50% of the total project costs, with the remaining amount covered by the applicant. Built Heritage projects may receive up to $4,000 in funding and Cultural Heritage projects may receive up to $2,000 in funding. For smaller projects, applicants may apply for an amount less than the specified maximums if desired.
Eligibility and Review Process
Eligible applications received during the intake period are reviewed by a panel of City staff. Applications are evaluated based on a set criteria, including heritage relevance, proposed use of funds and potential community benefit. Following the review by City staff, the recommended heritage grant recipients will be forwarded to Council for final approval.
