Maple Ridge, B.C., October 23, 2024 — The City of Maple Ridge is inviting residents to provide input to help shape the priorities for the 2025 annual budget until Nov. 5.

Community input is an essential step in developing the City’s annual budget and five-year financial plan to inform staff and Council on the community’s service expectations.

Maple Ridge residents and business owners can provide their input through an online survey until Nov. 5 at Engage.MapleRidge.ca/Budget2025. A printed survey is available upon request.

“The City's annual budget funds our core services and addresses key priorities to meet the needs of our fast-growing community,” said Mayor Ruimy. “Engaging our residents early helps us better understand what’s important before we finalize our budget and ensures we deliver on what matters to our residents. I encourage everyone to share their thoughts and help shape the future of Maple Ridge.”

The Budget Process
The process for developing the 2025 Budget and five-year Financial Plan includes engaging the community, aligning department budgets with service levels set by Council, and building a strategic workplan to deliver on the priorities of the 2023-2025 Council Strategic Plan:
•    Liveable Community
•    Climate Leadership and Environmental Stewardship
•    Engaged, Healthy Community
•    Diversified, Thriving Economy
•    Governance and Corporate Excellence

Based on the Strategic Plan, the City developed a set of performance measures known as Objectives and Key Results (OKR), that enable delivery on the strategic priorities with clear outcomes.

The City started the next phase of the business planning process yesterday with department updates to Council which can be viewed on the Engage page. Progress on Council priorities can be viewed on the City’s dashboards at MapleRidge.ca/CouncilStratPlan.

The 2025 annual budget will also be informed by the results of the 2024 Citizen Survey, a statistically representative community survey conducted earlier this year that provides a snapshot of the community’s views on the quality of life in Maple Ridge and the performance of City services.
