Maple Ridge, B.C., Sept. 23, 2024 – The community is invited to plant trees and learn about local environmental programs as part of the City of Maple Ridge’s annual National Tree Day celebration on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Jim Hadgkiss Park.

This year’s event will feature displays from community environmental groups, the launch of the City’s new Waterwise planting program, and the planting of nine new trees in the park.

“Trees are so important for keeping our air clean, supporting local wildlife, and making our city a great place to live,” said Mayor Ruimy. “By planting trees, we are enhancing our community’s green spaces and contributing to the long-term goals outlined in our new Urban Forest Management Strategy to protect and expand our urban forest. Events like National Tree Day demonstrate how we can work together to achieve a healthier and more sustainable environment for everyone in Maple Ridge.”

Residents of all ages are invited to participate to learn about sustainable practices and connect with local organizations that preserve our natural resources.
