Maple Ridge, B.C., April 21, 2026 — The City of Maple Ridge is reporting positive results from the first year of its Short-Term Rental (STR) regulatory program, with data showing the framework is supporting compliance, responding to community concerns, and providing a clear path for eligible operators.
The City’s STR framework was adopted by Council on April 22, 2025, following a Council Workshop and public hearing to gather community feedback on the proposed bylaws.
The adopted regulations are aligned with the Province’s Short-Term Rental Accommodations Act and were designed to help ensure residential properties continue to be used primarily as homes, while allowing some flexibility for homeowners to participate in the Short-Term Rental market and expand accommodation options for visitors.
Year One Highlights
Since the program was adopted, City staff have focused on education, customer service, and helping residents understand the new rules and application process with the following:
- Meet With A Planner sessions: More than 25 one-on-one meetings were held with prospective operators over the first year of the program to help navigate eligibility requirements and the application process.
- Operator Guide: Created to support applicants and help respond to inquiries, forming a “one stop shop” for everything STR.
