Maple Ridge, B.C., April 20, 2026 – The City of Maple Ridge officially unveiled three lasting legacy projects from the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games during a commemorative event held April 16 at Telosky Stadium marking a continued investment in local sport and facilities.

The three legacy projects include:

  • Accessible Bleachers at Telosky Stadium The installation of two accessible bleachers to improve inclusivity and ensure more residents can comfortably enjoy events at one of Maple Ridge’s premier sport facilities.
  • Legacy Grove at Telosky Stadium A collection of newly planted trees will enhance the stadium grounds by providing shade, reducing summer heat, and contributing to long-term environmental sustainability. The grove serves as a living legacy that will benefit athletes, spectators, and the broader community for generations.
  • Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games Legacy Fund Established in partnership with the Maple Ridge Community Foundation, the Legacy Fund will provide an annual sport grant to local non-profit organizations. This ongoing investment ensures the spirit of the Games continues by supporting grassroots sport development in the community.

“The legacy projects represent the very best of our community—our passion for sports and the spirit of volunteerism we saw during the Games,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “Together these projects improve access to our facilities, invest in a healthier environment and provide ongoing support to local athletes and groups. They are a lasting reflection of what we can achieve when we come together as a community and will continue to benefit Maple Ridge residents for years to come.”

The unveiling event also recognized the more than 1,700 volunteers and numerous community partners who helped deliver the Games, which welcomed over 3,100 athletes, coaches, and officials from across British Columbia in July 2024.

“The generosity of our volunteers, residents, and business community made these projects possible,” said Ernie Daykin, Vice-President of the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games and Chair of the Legacy Committee “Our heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this possible. These legacies ensure the impact of the Games will be felt well beyond 2024.”

A ceremonial tree planting highlighted the evening, symbolizing growth and the enduring impact of the Games. Attendees gathered to celebrate, reconnect, and reflect on the collective effort that made the event a success.

“Today’s event is a reunion and a celebration of what we can do working together as a community,” Laura Butler, President of the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games. “Looking back on the Games I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished. We delivered a successful and memorable Games for the athletes and for the volunteers who helped put it all together. The legacy of these Games is truly a gift to our community.”

Surplus funds from the Games were directed into the Legacy Fund and projects, selected by the Legacy Committee, ensuring a meaningful and lasting contribution to the community.

Maple Ridge hosted the BC Summer Games from July 17–21, 2024, featuring 22 sports across 19 venues and showcasing athletes and community spirit from across the province.
