A new crosswalk is coming to Kanaka Way and two others are being upgraded.

The City reviews crosswalks on an annual basis and has identified three locations on Kanaka Way that will benefit from upgrades. Two existing crosswalks will receive upgrades and one new crosswalk will be installed.

Description

Kanaka Way is a two-lane urban arterial roadway with sidewalks on both sides. The surrounding area is primarily residential, with schools and parks. These upgrades will improve pedestrian access along this important corridor.

The project will include:

  • Improvements to curbs and letdowns
  • Installation of pedestrian-activated overhead flashing lights
  • Review of drainage systems
  • Upgrades to signage as required
  • Pavement marking as required

  • Kanaka Way at Gilker Hill Road
  • Kanaka Way at 238 Street

Status

Construction is underway and is expected to complete in summer 2025.
