This mural is located on the Roots Natural Organic Health Foods building. Artist Carly Bouwman worked with students to create a design inspired by endangered and at-risk plants and animals found in the region. The mural includes local species such as the great blue heron, western painted turtle, western bumble bee, white sturgeon, Oregon spotted frog, barn owl and marbled murrelet. It celebrates Maple Ridge’s connection to the natural environment and highlights the region’s biodiversity.

The crowd attending the unveiling gathers in front of the mural.
Mayor Dan Ruimy and his council cut a blue ribbon with help from the mural's artists.
