Kirk Grayson is President of the Maple Ridge Climate Hub, a registered society dedicated to education, advocacy and action on climate change. An accredited business communicator, Grayson has been active in the community as a co-founder of the Climate Hub, organizer of all-candidates debates in recent elections, starting and running Maple Meadows Green Drinks, and writing a climate-focused column for the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News, called Going Green.
Bradford Griffin is the Executive Director of Simon Fraser University's Canadian Energy and Emissions Data Centre (CEEDC) and the Energy and Materials Research Group (EMRG). His work involves developing and applying quantitative models to evaluate government policies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. He has worked throughout his career on resource management issues from project scale to international public policy and brings valuable knowledge on energy economics, risk analysis and physical resources. He has a Master's in Resource Management, Energy Economics from Simon Fraser University.
Dr. Alison Shaw is a scientist and practitioner with over 20 years of experience in pioneering climate change and sustainability approaches. As founder of FlipSide Sustainability, she leverages her training as a scientist, strategist, and organizational coach to guide organizations into the new era of business consciousness. As Executive Director of the Action on Climate Team (ACT) at Simon Fraser University, Alison aims to advance pioneering research to practice approaches and partnerships. At ACT and as SFU's inaugural Executive Director of the Community-Centred Climate Innovation program, Alison and her team, work with forward-thinking partners to co-create, test and evaluate practical and effective approaches that accelerate resilience, promote rapid decarbonization, and advance multi-solving to help future-proof communities, businesses and governments and accelerate the sustainability transition.
Alexandra Tudose is an environmental sustainability leader and problem-solver with experience creating and designing sustainability plans in a government environment. She has over 10 years of experience communicating climate change goals and targets to government. In her current role as Manager, Energy and Environmental Sustainability at School District 42, she has led over 50 energy management projects. After post-secondary studies in economics and sustainable energy management, her career in energy management combines her interest in the environment and a natural inclination for business. In her roles as energy manager for the City of Maple Ridge and then School District 42, she has adeptly balanced considerations such as infrastructure, engagement, behavioural change, organizational priorities and budgets. The secret to her success is clarity around targets, processes and how individuals can make a difference.
Simone Mikolay - Youth member – is a recent environmental engineering graduate from the joint University of British Columbia and the University of North British Columbia program. Her studies included regional and international climate change policy, policy and governance of clean energy systems, life cycle analyses of products and services and environmental law. Combining her studies with additional work experience in university research, regional government, and private consulting, helps Simone to understand existing environmental policy, evaluate carbon reduction programs and recognize resultant impacts on various user groups.
