With summer heat on the way, @metrovancouverbc moved the region, including Maple Ridge, to Stage 2 Water Restrictions earlier this month to help manage the regional drinking water system.

Metro Vancouver has advised that they will likely escalate to Stage 3 restrictions in June as expected dry conditions, low snowpack and increased summer demand continue to place pressure on the regional water supply.

This information is being shared now so residents can stay informed and prepare in advance of tighter restrictions.

Under Stage 3 restrictions:
• Lawn watering remains prohibited.
• Trees, shrubs and flowers may only be watered using a hand-held hose with an automatic shutoff device, a watering container, or drip irrigation. Sprinklers and soaker hoses will no longer be permitted.
• Vegetable gardens and food-producing plants can still be watered at any time using any method.
• Washing driveways, sidewalks and other impermeable surfaces is prohibited unless required for health and safety reasons or to prepare a surface for painting or similar work.
• Filling pools, hot tubs and decorative water features is prohibited.
• Washing vehicles and boats is prohibited, except for cleaning windows, lights, mirrors, license plates, and boat engines for safety purposes.
