Maple Ridge, B.C., April 2, 2026 – The City of Maple Ridge invites the community to come together on April 16 for the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games Legacy Event, celebrating the contributions of volunteers, partners, and athletes and unveiling the Games’ legacy projects.
This commemorative event will take place on Thursday, April 16 at 6:00 p.m. at Telosky Stadium (23000 116 Ave) to recognize the more than 1,700 volunteers and community partners whose dedication made the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games a resounding success. Their collective efforts helped welcome over 3,160 athletes, coaches, and officials to Maple Ridge from July 17–21, 2024, across 22 sports and 19 venues.
“This event is an opportunity to reflect on what we achieved together as a community,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “The 2024 BC Summer Games showcased not only athletic excellence, but the incredible generosity and volunteerism that define Maple Ridge. We are proud to celebrate the legacy created by our residents and partners, and to unveil projects that will benefit our community for years to come.”
Surplus funds raised through the Games were directed into a Legacy Fund, supporting three community-focused legacy projects selected by the Legacy Committee, chaired by Vice-President Ernie Daykin. These projects will be officially unveiled during the event, serving as a lasting reminder of the community’s collaboration, generosity, and pride.
“We are incredibly proud of what our volunteers, partners, and community accomplished,” said Ernie Daykin, Vice-President of the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games Society. “The legacy projects represent the lasting impact of the Games and the spirit of collaboration that made them possible. This celebration is about honouring that shared achievement and looking ahead to how it will continue to benefit Maple Ridge.”
The event will also include a ceremonial tree planting, symbolizing growth and the enduring impact of the Games. Attendees are encouraged to stay, reconnect, and enjoy this community gathering with refreshments contributed by the Maple Ridge Fire Department Charitable Society.
Invited guests include Mayor and Council, the BC Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport, MLAs, BC Games Society representatives, Katzie First Nation, Kwantlen First Nation, School District 42 Board of Education, BC Summer Games Directors and Chairs, volunteers, local athletes, and community partners.
Maple Ridge hosted over 3000 athletes, coaches and sports officials for the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games, which took place from July 17 to 21. With 22 sports competitions scheduled across 19 venues in Maple Ridge and surrounding communities, the BC Summer Games showcased athletes from across the province, local talent, and community spirit.
