Alouette Dam Release Delayed. All Roads Open. March 20, 2026

WEATHER UPDATE 9 | March 20 7:45 AM

The City of Maple Ridge is advising residents that conditions are improving following overnight rainfall.

A welcome break in the weather brought lighter rain and some clear periods, allowing water levels to begin receding across the community. All roads that were previously impacted by flooding are now open.

River levels are continuing to drop, with the North Alouette River decreasing by approximately half a metre and the South Alouette River also showing a slight decline.

Alouette Dam Update
BC Hydro’s planned controlled release at Alouette Dam has been delayed due to lower-than-anticipated rainfall. The City will share further updates as information becomes available.

City crews worked overnight and remain actively deployed, continuing to monitor river levels, inspect infrastructure, and maintain drainage systems to support public safety.

Regional weather advisories remain in effect, including an Orange Rainfall Warning and Flood Watch.

Residents are urged to continue exercising caution:
   •   Stay back from rivers and creeks, and follow all posted signage and barricades
   •   Drive carefully and watch for pooling water on roads
   •   Take this opportunity to review emergency plans and ensure preparedness supplies are ready

Sandbags Available (Restocked):
   •   Filled sandbags: City Operations Centre (23925 Dewdney Trunk Rd)
   •   Sand and empty bags: Maple Ridge Park (13180 232 St) (residents are asked to bring their own shovel)

Residents are encouraged to report any concerns such as flooding, debris, or blocked drainage systems at MapleRidge.ca/Report or by calling 604-463-9581.
