
Maple Ridge, B.C., March 24, 2026 — The City of Maple Ridge is providing an update on post-storm recovery efforts and sharing information to support residents impacted by last week’s weather event.
The storm period from March 15 to March 20 included Yellow-Orange heavy rainfall warnings from Environment and Climate Change Canada and High Streamflow to Flood Watch advisories issued by the BC River Forecast Centre. While conditions improved over the weekend, the City recognizes the impacts some residents and properties experienced and is undertaking post-storm recovery.
Disaster Financial Assistance
The City is working with the Province (Emergency Management and Climate Readiness) to determine eligibility for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA).
While details are being confirmed, residents are encouraged to:
- Contact their insurance provider
- Document damage with photos and notes
- Keep receipts for cleanup and repairs
- Report flood-related damage to the City at MapleRidge.ca/Report
- Access mental health services, support lines and Canadian Red Cross support programs.
Storm Recovery and Cleanup
City crews are actively engaged in community-wide cleanup and repairs, responding to approximately 115 storm-related calls, including:
- Clearing debris from roads, ditches, and drainage systems
- Repairing damaged road shoulders, potholes, and other infrastructure
- Addressing downed trees and impacts to parks and trails
During the event, crews responded to localized flooding on several roads in Maple Ridge, including:
- 224 Street between 132 Avenue and 144 Avenue
- 136 Avenue between Foreman Drive and 223 Street
- 132 Avenue between 220 Street and 224 Street
The City also distributed approximately 1,200 sandbags at the Operations Centre and delivered two truckloads of sand and sandbags to Maple Ridge Park.
Residents undertaking cleanup are reminded to:
- Remove standing water and dispose of damaged materials
- Clean and disinfect affected areas to prevent mold
- Use caution when re-entering impacted spaces due to hidden hazards

- Have plans in place for pets, farms, and livestock
- Identify friends or family outside flood-prone areas where you could stay if needed
- Consider cost-effective home upgrades and sump pumps or backflow prevention
