City Gears Up to Assume Operations of The ACT Arts Centre in January 2026

Maple Ridge, B.C., October 20, 2025 — The City of Maple Ridge is issuing an open call to local artists, performers and creatives to help build a new Artist Roster for the ACT Arts Centre as the City prepares to assume operations of the facility on January 1, 2026.

“The City is looking forward to welcoming back artists and performers of all kinds to the ACT Arts Centre as we move into this new chapter of building it as an inclusive, thriving hub that celebrates talent in all forms,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “We’re inviting artists and performers to join our roster, share their talent, and help shape a vibrant cultural scene that brings our community together and contributes to the next chapter of Maple Ridge’s creative journey.”

If you’re a muralist or painter; performer or dancer; comedian or entertainer; doodler or sketch artist; musician or vocalist; digital or multimedia creator; sculptor or installation artist; fabric/textile artist; jewelry maker or artisan—this call is for you.

Why Join

  • Be part of a growing network of local creatives
  • Get early access to public art calls, community events, and ACT performances
  • Help shape the cultural landscape of Maple Ridge
  • Celebrate and share your work with your community

This roster will be comprised of pre-qualified artists who can provide original artwork for a variety of opportunities, including (but not limited to) exhibitions, performances, public art projects, and community activations.

Mayor Ruimy added, “We have a team of highly qualified staff with extensive experience in facility operations, arts and culture programming, events and community engagement who are working hard behind the scenes to prepare for this transition. Our focus is on ensuring the ACT continues to thrive as a welcoming and inclusive space that supports artists, audiences, and the entire community.”

How to apply

“We’re gearing up for a smooth transition of ACT operations to the City, and this roster will be our future go-to for exhibitions, performances, public art and community events,” said Russ Brummer, Manager of Arts, Culture & Events. “If you live in Maple Ridge or are a member of the Katzie, Kwantlen, Golden Ears Métis or Urban Indigenous communities, we’re excited to hear from you as supporting artists and the performing arts is a City priority.”
