Intersection of Hammond Rd/Maple Cres and 203 St/113B Ave
Hammond Road transitions to Maple Crescent at the intersection where 203 Street transitions to 113B Avenue. This intersection, and the segment of Maple Crescent between 115 Avenue and Westfield Avenue, contain challenging conditions for large vehicles.

Pedestrian Island in the Intersection
At the intersection of Hammond Road/Maple Crescent and 203 Street/113B Avenue, the northbound right-turn lane will be widened. This will increase the turning clearance for vehicles, specifically large semi trucks that often travel this route. The increased clearance will also increase safety for pedestrians using the sidewalks and pedestrian island.

S-curve along Maple Crescent
Along Maple Crescent, there is an s-curve between 115 Avenue and Westfield Avenue that can be difficult for large vehicles to navigate. At this location, both the east- and westbound lanes will be widened.
Status
Construction is scheduled to begin May 2026 and complete in September 2026.
This roadway has a history of challenging conditions for drivers and pedestrians. It's proximity to Hammond Elementary School makes it an important route for families and students; at the same time, it's an important truck route for vehicles servicing the industrial area in Hammond. By widening the northbound right-turn lane and the s-curve along Maple Crescent, conditions for all road users will improve.
We're committed to minimizing disruptions, but some impacts are expected:
Street parking will be unavailable in the construction area
A temporary road closure with detour may be required
Single-lane alternating traffic will be in effect
Construction materials may be stored in the boulevard
Bike lanes may be unavailable during construction
A bus stop will be relocated during construction
