March 2026 - Update
The City will be replacing the chain-link fencing around the basketball court and tennis court at Fairview Park. Construction is planned to start the week of March 16 and is expected to be completed within 1-2 weeks. During this time the basketball court and tennis court and immediate area will closed to the public.
We appreciate your patience and understanding while we complete this work.
January 2026 - Update
The playgrounds have been installed and are partially open for play, once the construction fencing has been removed.
The City's contractor is still in the process of addressing some of the remaining work items, with replacement parts needing to be shipped and installed to fully open the playgrounds.
Thank you for your continuing patience and understanding.
November 2025 - Update
The new playgrounds at Fairview Park have now been installed. The site construction fencing remains up while the City's contractor addresses some remaining work items, with replacement parts needing to be shipped and installed. Unfortunately, this is taking some time to finish which was not anticipated.
We appreciate your patience while we wait for these remaining items to be resolved.
Construction of Playground coming
The construction of the playground replacement for the 2-5yr & 5-12yr age groups and the construction of the new swing set area and nature play area is expected to start the second week of September and should be completed by the end of October. During this time the playgrounds, nature play & swing set and surrounding areas will be closed to the public.
Please visit our Engage.MapleRidge.ca/FairviewParkUpgrade with the playground renderings and map of the locations closed during construction.
Junior Bike Track construction completed
Construction of the Junior Bike Track, which started at the beginning of June has now been completed. The bike track meanders through the forested area and has lots of curves and bumps. The pathway that leads from the sidewalk towards the basketball and tennis courts has also been paved.
Check it out the next time you are in the neighbourhood.
Our next project for this park will be the construction of the playground which is scheduled to summer / fall of 2025.
Park Concept Plan - February 2025
Thank you to those who provided input through our engagement survey last fall.
To view the concept plan please visit Engage.MapleRidge.ca/FairviewParkUpgrade with the proposed park improvements including new play features, a junior bike track, and nature play area.
Next steps will include a request for proposal process to determine a playground equipment supplier as well as a contractor for the construction of the junior bike track.
Construction is anticipated to take place over the summer and early fall 2025.
Project Description
Fairview Park was developed in 1995 and includes two playgrounds, walking pathways through a grove of mature trees, a basketball court, and tennis court.
The playground for children ages 2 – 5 years is located near the entrance to the park on 122 Ave. and the playground for children ages 5 -12 years is located close to Fairview Elementary School.

These playgrounds are currently over 25 years of age and are showing signs of wear. This park renovation initiative aims to ensure that the new play structures continue the City’s commitment to providing safe play environments that meet the needs and preferences of local families. The City is proposing to replace both playgrounds at Fairview Park as part of the City’s Parks Lifecycle Replacement program.
