The Arts, Culture, Events and Heritage service review was initiated to assess the continued progression of the Walking Together Culture Plan identifying where efforts should continue and where shifts in focus have emerged in arts, culture, events and heritage.  The review is intended to ensure that the Cultural Plan remains relevant and responsive to  evolving community needs.   The review launched in March 2025 and included a current state and inventory assessment of arts, culture, events and heritage in Maple Ridge, a community engagement and perception audit, research on municipal best practices, all of which resulted in the development of key themes and recommendations in a final summary report.

The project was completed in October 2025.  Read the summary report here Arts, Culture, Events and Heritage Review: Summary Report

Staff will utilize the results of the review and assess the recommendations for integration into both the strategic and day-to-day operations of various City departments.  In addition, City facilities, including the ACT facility, have significant potential to address some of the identified gaps and to create new opportunities for the community to participate in arts, culture, events and heritage programs.
