Maple Ridge, B.C. — September 15, 2026 — The City is inviting residents to celebrate National Tree Day on Wednesday, September 23, at the newly upgraded Volker Park.
From 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. residents of all ages can join neighbours, City staff and local organizations for an afternoon of activities celebrating the value of trees, green spaces and a healthy urban forest.
The event supports the City’s ongoing work to protect and expand Maple Ridge’s urban forest through the Urban Forest Management Plan and the Resilient Future 2050 climate action plan. Trees provide shade, help manage rainwater, improve air quality, support wildlife and make neighbourhoods more welcoming and resilient.
This year's event will include planting new trees and spring-flowering bulbs, crafts, a food truck, face painting, a pollinator plant giveaway, interactive displays, and an opportunity to see the park from above during bucket-truck rides provided by the City’s tree contractor.
“Volker Park’s recent upgrades create a welcoming space for residents to gather, play and celebrate National Tree Day,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “The event is a great opportunity for residents to learn more about our urban forest and participate in tree planting which helps prepare Maple Ridge for hotter summers, heavier rainfall and the impacts of a changing climate.”
Participants will also have an opportunity to meet the City teams involved in planning, maintaining and protecting Maple Ridge’s green spaces, including Park Planning, Horticulture and Urban Forestry staff.

Event Highlights
