City of Maple Ridge Invites the Community to the 2026 Heritage Awards Event

Welcome to the 2026 Heritage Awards Ceremony February 19.

Maple Ridge, B.C., February 3, 2026 – The City of Maple Ridge is inviting the community to the 2026 Heritage Awards. The Awards recognize special initiatives, accomplishments, and projects that have advanced heritage conservation and awareness in our community.

The 2026 Heritage Awards event is free to attend and will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM (doors will open at 6:30 PM) at the Albion Community Centre, located at 24165 104 Avenue.

The Heritage Awards celebrate individuals, organizations, and sites that have made contributions to preserving and promoting the heritage and history of Maple Ridge.

Nominees may be recognized for long-term dedication to heritage conservation, a single effort that made a notable difference, leadership and vision in public education, or a project or action that resulted in a positive outcome for heritage in Maple Ridge.

2026 Heritage Awards Categories

  • Heritage Site Award: Recognizes a well-maintained and/or restored public or private building, site, or physical feature with historic value that is identified on the Heritage Inventory, Heritage Register, or is Designated.
  • Bernice Gehring History Hero Award: Recognizes the achievements of an individual or group that have contributed to the recognition of Maple Ridge within its historical context.
  • Sheila Nickols Award: Honours those who preserve and share historical facts, memories, objects, or documents that help keep Maple Ridge’s history alive.
  • Stewardship of a Community Cultural Asset Award: Celebrates efforts to conserve cultural practices, traditions, spaces, skills, or knowledge that strengthen appreciation of the community’s heritage.
  • Youth Heritage Award: Highlights the passion and dedication of a young person or youth group (25 years of age and under) who are making a meaningful impact in heritage conservation.

The City of Maple Ridge invites residents to attend the ceremony and celebrate the people, places, and stories that help preserve the community’s rich heritage.
