The Lower Mainland District RCMP and the City of Maple Ridge are pleased to announce the selection of the Ridge Meadows RCMP’s newest Officer-in-Charge, Inspector Adam Gander, who has been promoted to the rank of Superintendent.
Superintendent Gander began his career with the RCMP in 2001 when he was posted to the Ridge Meadows Detachment following his graduation from Depot. He worked in general duty, as a school liaison officer and in the Serious Crime Unit before transferring to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) in 2012.
Following his time on both the operational and administrative sides of homicide investigations, Superintendent Gander returned to the Ridge Meadows RCMP as a Staff Sergeant where he worked as a Watch Commander. In 2021, he was commissioned to the rank of Inspector and served as the Operations Support Officer.
“I am honoured to have been selected as the next Detachment Commander for the Ridge Meadows RCMP,” says Superintendent Gander. “I have spent the majority of my career working and living in this area and it continues to be a privilege to serve the communities of Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and the Katzie First Nation and to work alongside the incredible police officers and support staff at the detachment.”
“The City is delighted to congratulate Superintendent Gander as Maple Ridge’s new Officer-in-Charge,” says Mayor Ruimy, Mayor of the City of Maple Ridge. “With his extensive experience, collaborative leadership style, and strong ties to our community, Superintendent Gander is uniquely equipped to take on this important role. We look forward to working together to enhance the safety, well-being, and quality of life for everyone in Maple Ridge.”
“Superintendent Gander has been a strong asset to the Ridge Meadows RCMP for much of his career,” says A/Commr. Edwards, Lower Mainland District Commander. “He is an experienced police officer with a passion for the communities he serves. His knowledge and understanding of their strategic priorities will continue to make him an excellent leader for the detachment.”
Superintendent Gander will officially start his new position as the OIC of the Ridge Meadows RCMP this week. He has been acting in this position since late 2024, when Chief Superintendent Wendy Mehat began her role as the Officer-in-Charge of the Surrey RCMP Provincial Operations Support Unit (POSU).
