MAPLE RIDGE, B.C., May 5, 2026 — The north parking lot at Maple Ridge Park along 132 Avenue will be closed May 19 - 21 and the south parking lot on 232 Street will be temporarily closed starting May 21 for at least six weeks. These closures are due to parking lot construction and drainage improvements that are part of the next phase of park upgrades for Maple Ridge Park.
To help support park access during construction, a temporary overflow parking lot with more than 100 stalls north of the park on 132 Avenue is available. Visitors can cross 132 Ave / Fern Crescent by using the marked crosswalks on either side of the new overflow lot. The lot will remain open on an interim basis to provide overflow parking during busy summer months.
Construction Impacts
While work is underway, several popular park amenities will remain open to the public:
- playground
- spray park (scheduled to open in June, pending approval from Fraser Health)
- large picnic shelter
- existing washroom
These closures have been scheduled at this time as construction needs to be completed during dry weather and according to the City contractor's schedule.
A portion of the north parking lot will remain temporarily closed to support construction staging and storage for the duration of this phase of the project.
Thank you to residents and park visitors for your patience and understanding during the park improvement work.
Picnic Shelters
As construction continues, there will be impacts to some of the picnic areas in the park:
- Large picnic shelter: Will remain available to rent seven days a week at a 25% reduced rate. Nearby daily construction activity is expected throughout most of 2026, though weekend impacts are unlikely.
- Small picnic shelter: Will be removed to accommodate construction of a new shelter.
- Uncovered picnic tables: Will remain available during construction.
Maple Ridge Park Improvements Project
This work is part of the Maple Ridge Park Improvements Project, a multi-year plan to create a more functional and welcoming park. With previous phases completing upgrades to the playground (2024) and replacement of the spray park (2025), the current phase of the project reflects community feedback and will build a new washroom facility, three picnic shelters, and enhanced parking lots, including 40 additional stalls.
