Maple Ridge, B.C., May 5, 2026 – Building strong community connections and readiness is the focus of this year’s Emergency Preparedness Week, taking place until May 9 across B.C and Canada. This annual initiative encourages residents to take practical steps to stay safe during emergencies while strengthening community connections.
This year’s theme, ‘In It Together,’ emphasizes the importance of social connection in building resilience. When people feel connected and supported before an emergency, they are better able to help one another respond and recover.
Through the City’s Emergency Readiness Program, residents are encouraged to:
- Know the Risks specific to Maple Ridge, including floods, wildfires, and earthquakes
- Make a Plan so you and your loved ones know what to do in an emergency
- Gather Supplies to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours
How you can take part:
- Connect with your neighbours and identify anyone who might need extra support.
- Take steps to prepare your household so you can assist others when needed.
- Join a free webinar hosted by Prepared BC and enter to win a four-person emergency kit:
- During Emergency Preparedness Week, the PreparedBC team, in partnership with Building Resilient Neighbourhoods, will host a free webinar on preparedness through connection.
