Maple Ridge, B.C., May 21, 2025 – The City of Maple Ridge invites the community to celebrate National Public Works Week from May 18 to 24, a time to recognize the public works professionals and systems that keep the community operating.
“Public works is an essential service people often don’t think about—until something goes wrong,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “But the truth is, their work touches every part of our daily lives. Our crews are out there 24/7—rain or shine, snow or wind—maintaining city infrastructure, keeping our roads safe, and ensuring clean water flows every time you turn on the tap. We’re proud to recognize their vital work this week and throughout the year as they help keep Maple Ridge a City On The Move.”
Public Works Week raises awareness about the public works that residents use every day, such as:
- Clean and safe water when residents turn on the tap water
- Maintaining city infrastructure and fleet
- Helping residents get around safely with street cleaning, sidewalks, streetlights, and signage
