Maple Ridge, B.C., December 15, 2025 –Access to some Maple Ridge parks has been restricted as a strong storm system brings heavy rainfall and rising river levels through Wednesday. Residents are urged to prepare and remain alert as conditions evolve.

Park Access Restrictions

Due to rising river levels and fast-moving water, the following park restrictions are in effect:

  • Jerry Sulina Dog Park (South Alouette River) – CLOSED
  • Hot Rocks, Crosses Cabin Park, and the south end of Maple Ridge Park near water – Restricted access

Updates on road, facility, and park closures will be posted at MapleRidge.ca/CurrentAlerts

Current Weather Conditions

Yellow Rainfall Warning for Maple Ridge remains in effect from Environment and Climate Change and may be escalated as conditions develop.

  • Rainfall totals of 70 to more than 100 millimetres are forecast
  • Heaviest rain expected Tuesday night through Wednesday

The BC River Forecast Centre has upgraded the High Streamflow Advisory to a Flood Watch for our region, extending across the Lower Fraser Valley which means:

  • River levels are rising and may approach or exceed bankfull
  • Flooding of areas adjacent to rivers is possible

City crews remain vigilant and are:

  • Inspecting and maintaining drainage systems, culverts, dikes, and pump stations
  • Monitoring river and creek levels, including the North and South Alouette Rivers, Kanaka Creek, and the Fraser River
  • Monitoring parks along the North and South Alouette Rivers and the Fraser River.
  • Coordinating with partner agencies and remaining ready to respond as conditions evolve

Sandbags: Residents living in flood prone areas can pick up at the City’s Operations Centre at 23925 Dewdney Trunk Rd. After hours, contact  Operations@MapleRidge.ca or call 604-463-9581 to request. If additional sandbags are deployed, details will be shared at MapleRidge.ca/Flood and on City social media channels.

Stay Safe and Reduce the Risk of Flooding

The City encourages residents to do their part to prepare and stay safe:

  • Clear leaves and debris from gutters and catch basins near your home to help prevent localized flooding
  • Avoid walking, cycling, or driving through flooded areas
  • Stay away from rivers, creeks, and unstable banks
  • Keep children close and pets on leash and safe round fast moving waters
  • Check on neighbours who may need assistance
  • Report downed trees, road debris, or blocked storm drains on City property to the City’s 24-hour line at 604-463-9581 or at MapleRidge.ca/Report
  • Stay at least 10 metres away from any downed power lines and call BC Hydro at 1-800-BCHYDRO or *HYDRO (*49376)
