Community Impacts and Road Closures

Residents and visitors are advised of the following temporary impacts:

  • Traffic and Road Closures: Expect increased traffic and road closures near event venues. Please plan your travel accordingly and consider using public transportation or carpooling.
  • Parking Restrictions: Limited parking will be available at certain venues. Those who live close to venue sites at the Albion Sport Complex and local secondary schools (Maple Ridge Secondary, Westview, Thomas Haney, Samuel Robinson and Meadowridge) may notice more on-street parking during competition hours. The City’s Bylaws Department will be doing enhanced patrols to support the volunteers who are helping with traffic and parking.
  • Facility Impacts: A number of City facilities will be closed for public use during the Games including the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre, Greg Moore Youth Centre, Telosky Stadium, Hammond Stadium and Outdoor Pool, Albion Fairgrounds, Planet Ice Cam Neely Rink, Albion Sports Complex, and Whonnock Lake Park.  A full listing of impacts to facilities is available at MapleRidge.ca/summergamesimpacts. All pass holders will have their passes extended.  Alternate fitness programming is being planned at the Albion Community Centre.
  • Business Impacts: Local food establishments should expect high volumes during the Games.

“We thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we host the Games and welcome athletes and spectators to Maple Ridge,” said Cidalia Martin, the City’s Director of Recreation Services. “While our facilities are closed for the Games, we invite the community to come cheer on the athletes, check out some of the alternate programming planned or stay active in our beautiful outdoor spaces.”
