Flags at Half Mast to Honour the Victims of the Tragedy at Lapu-Lapu Festival

Flags will be flown at half-mast at all civic facilities until sunset, Sunday, May 5, to honour the victims of the tragic event that occurred at the Lapu Lapu Day Festival on April 26.

"My heart is heavy, and I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the events at the Lapu-Lapu Festival," said Mayor Ruimy. "On behalf of Council and the City of Maple Ridge, I offer my sincere condolences to the families, and everyone affected by this shocking tragedy. It is heartbreaking that a celebration of culture and community was struck by such devastation. Our hearts are with the Filipino Canadian community during this difficult time. We grieve with you and offer our full support."
