Maple Ridge, B.C. June 16, 2026 — The City of Maple Ridge is inviting residents to help shape the vision for a new neighbourhood park at 11375 Burnett Street, a 6-acre City-owned site in the Town Centre that will expand access to outdoor recreation and nature.

The future park delivers on the goals of the City’s 2023 Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, and advances the Town Centre Area Plan, which designates a park at this location. This park is intended to serve residents within a five-to-seven-minute walk.

At this phase of the project, the City is seeking input from residents to help shape the vision and program for the future park.

Vision for the Park and Design Considerations

This park will help bring people together and create more opportunities for residents living nearby and in the downtown core to connect with nature, be active close to home, and enjoy welcoming public park space for families, youth, and seniors.

The park site features a mature tree canopy, some areas of steep slopes, and potential viewing opportunities to the Fraser River. Community input will help inform what outdoor amenities are included in the design concept, which could include trails, play areas, seating, a dog off-leash area, and public art. Proposed park amenities will need to be sited to respect the topography and natural conditions.

Community Engagement

Residents are encouraged to provide input to help shape the new park amenities by completing the City’s online survey and attending the open house:

  • Survey: Complete a brief survey (online or in print) by July 12. Visit Engage.MapleRidge.ca/BurnettStreetPark or request a printed version at 604-463-5221.
  • Open House: The drop-in open house will be held on Wednesday June 24 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the future park site at 11375 Burnett Street (west side of the property, across from 11445 and 11455 228 Street). City staff will be available to answer questions. As street parking is limited, participants are encouraged to walk or bike to the event if they are able.

Next Steps

Following the first phase of community engagement, the project will move through concept design, followed by a second round of community engagement in the fall/winter 2026, detailed design through the spring/summer 2027, and with construction anticipated to begin in 2027. The future park is anticipated to open for the public in 2028.

Funding for the project is allocated in the City’s 2026–2030 Capital Program.
