Maple Ridge, B.C., June 27, 2025 – The City of Maple Ridge invites the community to celebrate the grand opening of the new spray park at Maple Ridge Park on Thursday, July 3, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Designed with community input, the new spray park is larger, fully accessible, and water efficient. It replaces the previous 2005 spray park as part of a multi-year improvement plan guided by the Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan.
“This new spray park is a celebration of community, inclusion, and sustainability,” said Mayor Ruimy. “With input from local families, we’ve created a space that reflects the needs of our growing city. Maple Ridge Park is one of our most treasured destination parks — a place where kids of all ages and abilities can play, cool off, and make memories together for years to come.”

- Communication Board (large, graphic, low-level sign to support accessible communication)
- Accessible slide, see-saw, spinner, sand digger, and swing
- 30-foot tree house with slides, bridges, and climbing obstacles
- Side-by-side zipline
- Rubber playground safety surfacing
- Sensory features (sand and water area, music components, talk tubes, in-ground trampolines)
- Toddler play structure
Picnic Shelters, Washrooms, and Parking Upgrades
To further enhance visitor experience and accessibility at Maple Ridge Park, the picnic shelters and washrooms are being replaced, and significant improvements will be made to the parking lots. The public was invited to provide feedback on the concept designs in spring 2025 and the City plans to share revised designs this fall, with construction anticipated to begin in fall 2025/winter 2026.
Maple Ridge Park Improvement Project
The replacement of the spray park is phase 2 of a multi-year improvement project to identify opportunities at Maple Ridge Park that benefit both the community and environment, as outlined in the Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan.
Maple Ridge Park
Maple Ridge Park is one of the city's most popular and oldest destination parks. Located along the South Alouette River, the park is home to old-growth trees, native plants, and thriving wildlife. Every fall, the river becomes a spawning ground for salmon, adding to the area’s natural charm and ecological importance.
