Maple Ridge, B.C., May 7, 2026 – Maple Ridge residents are invited to connect with neighbours as the City of Maple Ridge's popular Rock the Block series returns with free family friendly events, including a celebration at the City's Operations Centre for National Public Works Week.
The series kicks off May 8 at Pazarena Park, continues with the city-wide Rock the Block event on May 23 at the City’s Operations Centre, and wraps up with a Summer Kick-off celebration on June 6 at Albion Community Centre.
These free events are designed to bring neighbours and families together to connect, socialize and celebrate where they live through live music, food trucks, games, and activities close to home.
"Events like Rock the Block play an important role in bringing people together, building social connections and creating a sense of belonging," said Mayor Dan Ruimy. "We're also excited to welcome residents to the City's Operations Centre for a behind the scenes look at our equipment, services, and people working 24/7 to keep our parks, trails, and roads safe and deliver clean, reliable water and other services that people use every day."
Kick-off: Pazarena Park Opening
Rock the Block begins on Friday, May 8, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Pazarena Park with an official park opening celebration. Opened last summer, this neighbourhood-focused event invites nearby residents to enjoy an evening of entertainment just steps from home. Street parking is limited, and attendees are encouraged to walk, bike, or roll.
Rock the Block Celebrates Public Works Week (May 23)
A new addition to the series this year, Rock the Block at the City’s Operations Centre provides the opportunity to learn more about the essential services that keep Maple Ridge running.
Taking place May 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 23925 Dewdney Trunk Road, this interactive event highlights public works services from delivering clean water and sewer services to maintaining city roads, sidewalks, streetlights, and parks to more.
Event highlights include:
- Heavy equipment displays and live demonstrations including a backhoe, snowplow, sewer flushing, and street cleaner along with water meter and traffic signal demos
- Interactive exhibits showcasing how City systems operate
- Kids' activities including a mini construction zone, crafts, games, and hayrides
- Live music, food trucks, giveaways, and photo opportunities
Held during Public Works Week (May 17–23), the event reflects the theme "Rooted in Service, Powered by Community," celebrating the vital services residents rely on every day.
Summer Kick-off at Albion Community Centre
The series concludes on June 6 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Albion Community Centre (24165 104 Avenue) with a city-wide celebration to launch summer.
The event features live music, food trucks, a rock-climbing wall, foam pit, arts and crafts, glow-in-the-dark Zumba, a licensed beverage area, and more. It also marks the start of summer programming at the centre, including daily activities in the Backyard and Food Truck Fridays.
