City of Maple Ridge Reminds Residents: No Clock Change on Nov. 1

The City of Maple Ridge is reminding residents that clocks will not turn back on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026.

British Columbia has moved to permanent year-round daylight-saving time. The clock change in March 2026 was the province’s last seasonal time change. Beginning Nov. 1, B.C. will observe Pacific time (PCT) year-round, remaining at coordinated universal time UTC-7.

The City does not expect any interruption to online services, digital systems or the registration platform. City systems have been updated to support the change.

Residents are encouraged to review their personal digital calendars for City appointments, classes, programs and events taking place on or after Nov. 1. Some calendar applications, recurring events or entries saved before Nov. 1 may not automatically update and could display an incorrect time following the time zone change.

Residents may need to:

  • Update the time zone setting for calendar entries dated after Nov. 1 to Pacific time (PCT)
  • Check start time for any City class, program, appointment or event scheduled on or after Nov. 1.
  • Update saved calendar entries if needed.

Note: Some City calendar invitations, bookings or digital services may temporarily show (UTC-07:00) Yukon as the time-zone setting. The City is using this setting while software and service providers complete updates for B.C.’s new official time zone.

Check Safety Routines

While residents will not be changing their clocks this fall, it is still a good time to test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms, replace batteries where needed and make sure everyone in the household knows what to do in an emergency.

With darker mornings ahead, the City also reminds pedestrians, cyclists and drivers to take extra care. Pedestrians and cyclists are encouraged to wear bright or reflective clothing, use lights when travelling in dark and make eye contact with drivers before crossing. Drivers should slow down, stay alert and watch carefully for people walking and cycling, especially near intersections, schools and transit stops.

Residents can email Enquiries@MapleRidge.ca or report at MapleRidge.ca/Report if they have any questions or unsure about an appointment, program or event time.
