
Maple Ridge, B.C., Jun 2, 2025 – June is Recreation and Parks Month, and the City of Maple Ridge is inviting residents of all ages to get active, explore the outdoors, and celebrate the positive impact of parks and recreation on our community’s health and well-being.
Throughout June, Maple Ridge will host a diverse range of free fitness classes, outdoor experiences, and community events designed to inspire movement and connection. From National Health and Fitness Day to Seniors Week and summer solstice yoga, there are many ways to participate and discover the City’s vibrant recreation offerings.
“Recreation and nature are cornerstones of our community and essential priorities as we support Maple Ridge’s growing population,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “Whether you’re cycling with family, participating in a fitness class, or simply relaxing in one of our many beautiful green spaces, June is a perfect time to celebrate how these activities enhance our well-being, foster connections, and enrich our community.”
Get Moving for Free
National Health and Fitness Day – June 7
- Join us for five dynamic classes at the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre and Albion Community Centre, including Spin & Stretch, Cardio Core, Power Hour, Flow Yoga, and Zumba. Just pre-register for these drop-in classes free of charge.
Celebrate Seniors Week – June 2 to 8
- A week of free programs specially designed for older adults, including Aqua Fit, low-impact workouts, boccia, spin classes, and introductory pickleball sessions. Interested residents can pre-register for these classes online or in person at the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre or Albion Community Centre. Special Events During the Month
- Family Fishing Fun – June 14 at Whonnock Lake: A free, hands-on fishing event for all ages, with equipment, expert tips, and giveaways provided by Bass Pro Shops. This event is fully booked but residents are encouraged contact PRC@MapleRidge.ca to get on the waitlist.
- Solstice Yoga – June 20 at Albion Community Centre: Celebrate the longest day of the year with an energizing summer yoga session.
- Bike & Bites – June 28 beginning at Memorial Peace Park: A guided three-hour cycling and tasting tour from Memorial Peace Park to The Patch Brewery, showcasing local farms and culinary stops. MapleRidge.ca/BikeBites
Stay Active All Month Long
- Free Swimming at Hammond Outdoor Pool: Cool off and enjoy the outdoors. Weekend public swim and length swim admissions are free for Maple Ridge residents.

- Play outside: Visit local sport courts and sign up for free play pickleball nets at Albion Community Centre.

Visit one of our Four Maple Ridge 150 Murals which are now installed at Albion Community Centre, Maple Ridge Park, Hammond Community Park, and Blaney Hamlet Park.
