Environment Canada has issued a Rainfall Warning for our region with between 50 to 70 mm of heavy rain. Light rain will intensify to periods of heavy rain on Saturday and ease Sunday morning with the passage of the system.
When: Midday on Saturday to Sunday Morning.
Where:
- Northern sections of Metro Vancouver including West Vancouver, North Vancouver, Coquitlam, Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge.
- Howe Sound
- Sea to Sky highway from Squamish to Brandywine
Potential Impacts
- Water pooling on roads and in low-lying areas. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times.
- Localized flooding, rapidly rising river levels and possible high streamflow in the Alouette Rivers, and Kanaka Creek Rivers
- Potential for washouts, landslips and damage by erosion
- Hazardous travel conditions and event disruptions.
To stay prepared, residents are asked to help keep catch basins and sidewalks clear so rainwater can flow freely through our drainage systems. The City will announce sandbag locations should the need arise. Residents can visit MapleRidge.ca/Flood to learn more about flood preparedness and monitor river levels.
