Maple Ridge, B.C., April 24, 2026 – Seasonal maintenance is now underway at Maple Ridge’s two municipal cemeteries: Maple Ridge Cemetery and Whonnock Cemetery. This annual work helps keep the cemeteries clean, well maintained, and safe for visitors and staff.

Those with loved ones interred at the cemetery are respectfully asked to remove all grave and niche decorations by Saturday, May 2, 2026. Any items left at Maple Ridge Cemetery gravesites, other than fresh cut flowers, will be collected by the Cemetery Caretaker and available for pickup until June 15.

Reminders Regarding Decorative Items and Landscaping
Under the City of Maple Ridge Cemetery Bylaw:

  • Artificial flowers may only be placed in the cemetery between November 15 and March 15.
  • Cut flowers, wreaths, and floral offerings may be removed by the Cemetery Caretaker when their condition has deteriorated, considered unsafe, or affects the maintained condition of the cemetery grounds.
  • Landscaping, curbing, fencing, permanents plants, and other plot enhancements are not permitted.
  • Only authorized City of Maple Ridge staff may plant, remove, cut down, or destroy any trees, shrubs, plants, flowers, bulbs, or rocks in the cemetery.

The City thanks families for their ongoing cooperation to maintain the safety, aesthetics, and maintenance of our cemeteries.
