Maple Ridge, B.C., May 6, 2025 – Maple Ridge residents are invited to take part in ‘Rock the Block’, a series of free, family-friendly gatherings in neighbourhood parks — starting May 10, followed by a community-wide Summer Kick-off celebration on May 24 at the Albion Community Centre.

Rock the Block starts on Saturday, May 10, at Volker Park (21113 123 Avenue) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., where residents in the area can enjoy music, food trucks, and activities just steps from home.

“Come out and get to know your neighbours this summer Maple Ridge,” said Mayor Dan Ruimy. “We have such great neighbourhoods, and these events are a great way for residents to gather, walk down to the park together and connect. We’re excited to bring the music, activities, and fun to you — right where you live! New this year we’re looking forward to the Summer Kick-off at Albion Community Centre.”

The highlight of this year’s series is the Kick-off to Summer at ACC on May 24 at Albion Community Centre (24165 104 Avenue), running from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and open to everyone in Maple Ridge.

This city-wide celebration will feature food trucks, live music, a rock-climbing wall, a monster foam pit, arts and crafts, glow-in-the-dark Zumba, a licensed beverage area, and much more. It also marks the kickoff of summer programming at the Albion Community Centre, where residents can drop into the ‘Backyard’ for daily games and activities and Food Truck Fridays all season long.

Rock the Block Dates:

  • May 10 – Volker Park | 6:00–8:00 p.m. (Neighbourhood focus)
  • May 24 – Albion Community Centre Summer Kick-off | 5:00–9:00 p.m. (Open to all!)
  • June 7 – Cottonwood North Park | 6:00–8:00 p.m. (Neighbourhood focus)

These events bring neighbours together for evenings of fun with live music, food trucks, games, and activities in nearby parks. Events run rain or shine. Due to limited street parking, attendees are encouraged to walk, bike or stroll, bring a blanket, and enjoy a picnic-style evening.

Rock the Block is part of the City’s commitment to building vibrant, connected neighbourhoods. Following a successful pilot in 2023, the series continues to offer fun, low-barrier opportunities for residents to meet, engage, and celebrate where they live. Residents can suggest locations for future Rock the Block events by emailing Culture@MapleRidge.ca
