Kick off the Holidays in Maple Ridge with Seasonal Cheer and Festive Fun

Maple Ridge, B.C., Nov. 27, 2025  — Maple Ridge is getting ready to celebrate the holidays with a full lineup of festive favourites, including Winter Fest, Christmas in the Park, the 22nd annual Santa Claus Parade on Dec. 6, new Outdoor Winter Pop-Ups in parks, the CPKC Holiday Train rolling in Dec. 19 featuring the Barenaked Ladies, and the return of the "Share the Magic" Holiday Photo Contest.

Memorial Peace Park will transform into a winter wonderland on Saturday, Dec. 6, when Winter Fest returns. 

"We’ve got a festive lineup of family-friendly events this December from parades and live performances to new outdoor pop-ups and skating," said Mayor Dan Ruimy. "Our arts and cultural scene really comes alive this time of year, and downtown Maple Ridge sparkles with holiday lights and our iconic red bells. It's the perfect opportunity to get out, make memories with friends, family and neighbours and capture that perfect moment for our 'Share the Magic' photo contest."

What’s happening this December in Maple Ridge

Winter Fest, Dec. 6, 4–8 p.m., Memorial Peace Park — Featuring free, family-friendly activities, entertainment, crafts and a Christmas market hosted by the Maple Ridge Christmas Festival Society, Downtown Maple Ridge Business Improvement Association, and the City. Activities include:

  • Christmas in the Park  Tree lighting, photos with Santa, kids' activities and live music. Donations are welcome for the Friends in Need Food Bank and the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Christmas Hamper Society.
  • Christmas Market  Handcrafted gifts and festive treats from local artisans and businesses.
  • Santa Claus Parade — 6–7:30 p.m., Downtown Maple Ridge - The streets will shine with colourful floats, music and a visit from Santa.

The Nutcracker, Dec. 13 & 14, 3 p.m., The ACT Arts Centre — Experience Ballet Victoria's timeless holiday classic on The ACT Mainstage.

Shred, Share, Stoked, Dec. 14, 6–8 p.m., Greg Moore Youth Centre — Annual Youth led skateboarding competition . All proceeds will go to help support a local holiday hamper. Register at MapleRidge.ca/Register by phone at 604-467-7422. Cost is $10.

CPKC Holiday Train, Dec. 19, 7 p.m., Port Haney Station — The train arrives at 7:50 p.m. with a free concert by the Barenaked Ladies. Guests are encouraged to bring donations for the Friends in Need Food Bank. More details: cpkcr.com/en/Community/HolidayTrain.

Christmas Movie: Home Alone, Dec. 19, 7 p.m., Albion Community Centre — A free, pre-teen movie night (ages 10–13) featuring a festive favourite. Pre-registration required at MapleRidge.ca/Register.

Outdoor Winter Pop-Ups in Parks — New this year, enjoy cozy gatherings in neighbourhood parks:

  • Nov. 29, 4–6 p.m. — Maple Ridge Park - S'mores by the fire and outdoor program info
  • Dec. 14, 9–11 a.m. — Jordan's Park - Hot cocoa and a family scavenger hunt
  • Dec. 31, 9 a.m.–noon — Hammond Park - Hot cocoa and a friendly game of soccer

Stay active over the holidays

Pre-Registered Winter Wonderland Skating, Dec. 21, 6–8 p.m., Planet Ice — Skate in a beautifully decorated rink, plus hot cocoa and crafts. Helmets and rentals not included. Please register online before spots run out! MapleRidge.ca/Skating.

Winter Break Swim — Winter Break Swim – We're open on Boxing Day and New Year's Day, with extra waterslide availability throughout the break, and all regular amenities open as usual. Visit MapleRidge.ca/Dropin for schedules.

Aquatic One Day Wonders, Dec. 27, Maple Ridge Leisure Centre — Single-day programs with games, activities and an introduction to water safety for all ages. $10 per session. Learn more and register at MapleRidge.ca/Register.

Remember loved ones this season — Beginning Dec. 5, residents are invited to place a thoughtful ornament on the memorial tree at Maple Ridge Cemetery in honour of a loved one. Decorations may be hung from Dec. 5 to Jan. 5. For details, email Cemetery@MapleRidge.ca.

Capture the spirit: "Share the Magic" Holiday Photo Contest — Starting Dec. 1, residents can share their favourite holiday moments at Engage.MapleRidge.ca/ShareTheMagic. The top three photos will each receive a $100 prize and be featured on City social media channels. Voting runs throughout December, and winners will be announced Jan. 9.
