Water Leak & Sewage Smell – Fraser Street Update 🚧

City crews have identified and are actively working to resolve an issue with leaking water and sewage smells along Fraser Street.

We’ve traced the source to the south end of Fraser Street, near the sanitary tie-in manhole.

Here’s what’s happening:
📍 Heavy rain caused water to leak through a patch in a nearby trench
📍 Pressure underground caused the grout inside the manhole to fail
📍 Water from upstream is now following the trench line and hitting a dead-end at the manhole, building up and leaking onto the street

The developer working on a multi-family housing project upstream is coordinating repairs to help resolve the issue.

💡 For the long-term fix: We’re planning to install a French drain-style system that will connect to the stormwater main. This should help redirect the water and reduce the chances of this happening again—especially once the paving is complete.

We know it’s a frustrating situation, and we really appreciate your patience as we work to fix it. If you’ve got questions or concerns, we’re here to help.
