Maple Ridge, B.C. – October 16, 2024 – The City of Maple Ridge is inviting residents and visitors to provide input on potential improvements to the Silver Valley trail network.
The community's input, collected through an online survey and open house on Oct. 23, will help shape a trail network improvement plan that will be shared with residents in the second phase of engagement.
Potential Trail Network Improvements
The City is looking to hear from residents on what trail network improvements they would like to see and is focusing on the following key areas:
- What is important to trail users
- Trail usage patterns
- Preferred trail access points
- Desired trail improvements
- Signage and wayfinding
The trail network supports the goals outlined in the City’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, Official Community Plan, and Silver Valley Area Plan.
How to Provide Input
- Take the survey by Nov. 3: Community members can share their thoughts by completing the survey online at Engage.MapleRidge.ca/SilverValleyTrails. Requests for a printed survey can be submitted to Engage@MapleRidge.ca or 604-466-4300 (dial 4 and extension 5305).
Attend the Open House on Oct. 23: The City will host an open house for those who want to learn more about the trail network, provide input on trail improvements, or ask staff questions. Details:
Wednesday, Oct. 23 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (drop-in)
Eagles Hall in Silver Valley (23461 132 Avenue, Maple Ridge)
The collected input will inform a trail improvement plan for Silver Valley, which will be shared with the public in the second engagement phase.
The Silver Valley Trails
Winding through the growing neighbourhood of Silver Valley in north Maple Ridge, the Silver Valley trails were originally developed as horse trails and have grown in popularity. They are now shared by walkers, hikers, recreational cyclists, and equestrian riders.
The Silver Valley Area Plan envisions a comprehensive trail network that connects neighbourhoods with nature while preserving the area's forested hillsides and watercourses.
